Yes it is possible what is already known since October 2009.

Excerpt:
The steel pipelines installed in the German gas network are suitable for transporting hydrogen. They do not show any differences in terms of basic suitability for the transport of hydrogen compared to natural gas. Both operational aging and the required fracture toughness meet the expectations for decades of safe availability.

We must return to the industrial beginning= approx.: -1.3 degrees, no more CO2 emissions! This is almost not attainable - production of green hydrogen by PV, wind, water, bio waste ...! And this immediately.

Here also a cost-benefit calculation must take place, because the production of green hydrogen by electrolysis costs approx.: 12 ct./kWh and in doing so, green electricity is taken away from the general public, and NO CO2 is ACTIVELY reduced.

The required quantity could not be covered from own production..

Yes, this is correct, because we do not have enough green electricity, or will not have enough green electricity in the next years to produce green hydrogen. H2 by elektrolysis at a price of 12 ct./kWh haben!

All new buildings from 2024 onwards must comply with the standard  Plusenergyhousecorrespond! There is only this new building version! Existing buildings can be retrofitted. A credit line should be available here.

1. Green electricity from PV, wind, and hydropower are available to the power grid! As long as there is no real surplus of electricity from PV,wind, bio mass and hydropower. Maybe from 2030?
2. Any form of hydrogen production from biomass, except H2 by electrolysis are promoted!
